About Annunciation Catholic School
Annunciation Catholic School, founded in 1954 by the
Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus, is a fully
accredited, Catholic parish elementary school under the
auspices of the
Archdiocese
of Washington and the
Church of the Annunciation. Our Pre-Kindergarten
through Grade 8 program is staffed by professional lay
teachers and serves a diverse student population from
the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area as well as
other countries.
Annunciation Catholic School and its faculty and
staff are dedicated to developing the whole student
through a community experience that stresses solid
academics, encourages an active faith life, and follows
God’s laws. Students are challenged to learn how to
respect the dignity of God’s life, to develop themselves
according to their God-given talents, to be aware of the
truth of God’s love for all, and to live in God’s faith.
To achieve these four life-long ideals – dignity,
development, truth, and faith – students at Annunciation
Catholic School are challenged to integrate these
principles into their daily lives. These ideals are
stressed as part of Annunciation’s educational
philosophy and are expressed through a lived life of
faith by administrators, faculty, staff, students, and
parents/guardians. Each student is expected and
challenged to show growth in these four life-long ideals
as part of their education at Annunciation Catholic
School.
Catholic Identity
The faculty, administration, and priests of
Annunciation work together to guide each student as
they form their own faith and grow spiritually through
the teachings of the Catholic Church. Students are
encouraged to celebrate their individuality, as well as
their role in our Catholic school community, by
preparing for school Masses and prayer services.
Students celebrate the seasons of Advent and Lent with
daily prayer services and the sacrament of
Reconciliation.
Academic Excellence
Annunciation Catholic School provides a strong
academic program which focuses on academic excellence
and mastery. Teachers create a supportive environment,
helping students achieve academic goals through
differentiated instruction and research based
strategies.
Service
To strengthen our connection with the community, as
well as foster the awareness of our Christian
responsibility, students are involved in various service
projects, which benefit local organizations and
charities. Students may also participate in Student
Service Council, which engages actively in community
service projects and teaches civic responsibility.
Non-Discriminatory Policy
Annunciation Catholic School admits students of any
race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin to all the
rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally
accorded or made available to the students at our
school. Similar policies apply to the school staff. Our
school does not discriminate on the basis of race,
color, creed, national or ethnic origin in the
